VADODARA: Students of Faculty of Social Work of city-based Parul University (PU) on Sunday celebrated friendship day in a unique way by visiting Spandan, a school for disabled, Juvenile jail and Jalaram old age home. Students of PU had organized various competitions and games for the children to mark the day.
According to the students it was an overwhelming experience with the young children at Juvenile Jail.
Along with tying friendship bands they also played games like dumb charades, passing the pillow and kho kho with those children.
Moreover students also arranged drawing competition for the children there. “They are artists I must say,” said Komal Vasava, a student of PU who organized the competition. Students also organized cultural and musical programmes for the children there and gifted lunch boxes to the children.
At Jalaram Old Age Home the students went from room to room tying friendship bands to everyone at the old age home. Students sung and danced on Garba tunes with them, offered prayers and also served lunch to the residents. “I still remember Vijaya baa, she was still like a kid and hence we all got emotionally attached to her. She was a ‘bindaas nani’,” said PU student Hintendrasinh Parmar.
